$63.24
SKU: STS.08.810.10000.B

In stock

Super-strong steel construction features typical German design and high engineering standards. Superb integration with the factory exhaust and sidestand components -- retain all existing features without sacrificing lean angle or clearances.

All hardware needed to mount the sidestand is included. Installs using basic hand tools. No welding, cutting or drilling of existing frame or body parts required. Tough powdercoated black finish. Designed to work with OEM components - we cannot assure fit with aftermarket exhausts or other accessories. Note: Does not fit '12-'13 KLR650. Sidestand bolt is larger for those model years but can be made to fit with some drilling.

Useful Installation Notes:

These two arrows illustrate the points on the kick stand mounting tab. This is where the two locating prongs on the cover for the kickstand position sensor snap in.

These two prongs snap into the kick stand mounting tab on the KLR. The purpose of this cover is protect the kickstand position sensor. Use a 10 mm socket to remove the retaining bolt from this protective cover. Then pull the cover straight back to remove and the position sensor and the protective cover.

This stand work great... BUT, the stand area is too small, and the angle is not 0°, so buried very easily in almost any terrain, incluying hot asfalt!

You really need:
1. Correct the angle
2. Turn stand foot great (Posted on 14-07-23)

I had my new 2014 KLR650 lowered with Moose Racing dogbones when I picked it up at the dealership. Thing is I cheaped out on having them shorten the stock sidestand an the same time, big mistake. So I went ahead and ordered the Twisted Throttle shortened sidestand to remedy that oversight.

Some observations. First the hole for the pivot bolt really isn't too small (at least on the 2014), it just had too much paint/powder coat in the hole. Clean the hole out with some sandpaper, apply some grease and you're in business.

Secondly, the foot on this sidestand is way too small for use on a dual sport bike. It's only 1 3/8" in diameter. That is something less than 1/3 the surface area of the stock sidestand foot. Without using a foot pad or modifying the foot, this would be for too risky to use on anything but solid pavement.

If the foot had a larger surface area, this would be the exact solution for KLRs that have been lowered. (Posted on 14-07-10)

I would of have it a 5 star rating, but I had to make the hole for the main bolt a little bit bigger. The stock hardware is a hair bigger then the hole on the short kickstand. Once I drilled it a bit bigger it worked great. (Posted on 13-07-09)
