It does NOT fit easily into place. I have a 2005 1200gs and the cross bar over the front fender gets in the way. Leave the bottom of the lens unattached to the frame and fasten it after the whole thing is in place.
Added to that, the cheap bolts stripped almost instantly (they are a little fat of thread for their intended destination... had to buy different bolts to get it installed).
At night, the domed plastic tends to add a glow behind your dash and light up the inside of your windscreen. It was a little distracting at first and an oversight of the design. There is no light directly in my eyes but I can't help at wonder at the loss of lumens on the road. I have auxiliary lights to rely on or I would remove this unit as I ride all year and often in the dark.
It is a good price and I wasn't expecting fancy but I also wasn't expecting cheap. On the up side I like the protection offered all the way around the light assembly instead of just the sides. (Posted on 14-10-10)
