This is the best light mounting setup I have seen for a BMW R1200GS. It is sturdy, the finish is good, very staightforward to install, and is just the ticket for my PIAA LP530 running lights. (Posted on 15-04-23)

This is a seriously good product! This light mount is super-simple and does its job so well that you really have to wonder why all the other GS light-bars on the market are priced above $150. Assembly and installation were very simple and easy to understand; I had no problems. On the road I noticed no jiggling in the light that reflected ahead, indicating that the bar is good and sturdy and doesn't flex as the bike passes over the usual irregularities of pavement. I have not tested it off-pavement, but I am confident that the mount bar will prove itself up to the task there as well.

I've deducted one star for a few reasons. None of them should be considered deal-breakers; they are just things I would have done differently if I made this product. One is the silver paint on the outer pieces. I would prefer black since I think of the light-bar as an extension of the bike's frame. No worries; a rattle-can of satin black (or whatever colour turns your crank) will fix that if it really bothers you. Another item is the size of the holes for the lights' mounting-studs. These holes are noticeably larger than the studs on any lights I've seen, necessitating a large washer to be sure that the nut is getting enough purchase on the mount. Finally, I swapped the hex-head screws for allen-screws so that the lights can be field-adjustable using the tools I already carry on the bike. Maybe including these screws would be a good idea? Just a thought.

In summary, this light-mount bar is an excellent product if not a perfect one, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who needs to mount lights on a GS. (Posted on 15-01-09)

Best for fitting a pair of universal auxiliary lights. I put the Piaa diochroic (think is the Piaa 1800 model) and the result is perfect (both good looking and efficient lighting) (Posted on 14-07-07)
